“People talk sometimes of a bestial cruelty, but that’s a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as a man, so artistically cruel.”

~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky

News of late have just simply been upsetting and are beyond my ability to comprehend.  I know that suffering is unavoidable, that unfairness exist in our lives.  But, to see human cruelty so blatantly executed and even defended leave me reeling in disbelief and anger.  Children so young were forcibly separated from their parents and put in cage-like confinements.  To even try and justify that is obscene. As a mother, as a woman…no, as a mere human being, I am beyond horrified.  Every day has been a test to the limit of our forbearance.  The decision to halt the separation provides a slight relief but I brace myself for the uncertainty of tomorrow.  Cruelty, after all, knows no bounds.

  1. I couldn’t agree more, and the reprieve, I’m afraid, is just another deception as there are no plans to reunite children with their parents. This whole situation breaks my heart and makes me so ashamed for this country. Thank you for speaking up. Hopefully the goodness of the American people, regardless of party, will counter the cruelty of our leaders.

    • HI Diana, yes, you are absolutely right! I hope that too…all political affiliations aside, if we can come together as a nation and strive for what’s good and right, we will be okay. Thank you for stopping by despite your busy schedule…and writing a book too! Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂

  2. I could not agree with you any more!! I am so sick by the news lately and try so hard to avoid it. It breaks my heart what is being done and no one is putting a stop to it. Sadly I do not believe those that are in power right now see things the way we do. It really makes me so sad to see what our American leaders are doing to our country. I am sorry to throw that in there, I try not to talk politics ever because everyone has their opinions, but what is happening is just cruel. I am really looking forward to reading more of your posts. Despite my outrage by what is going on in the states, I do always try to be encouraging and inspiring to others through the words I share, which are typically positive!! I hope if you have time, you will check out my site! I hope you have a great weekend!!

    • Thank you for the visit, for sharing your thoughts and for the invite to see your blog. Yes, it has been very hard to watch news and yes, I have been trying hard not to write about politics. We are all entitled to our opinions and beliefs. I just thought that this is quite distressing for people in general. I will be stopping by your blog soon. 🙂

    • Yes, some of his words and works were very dark indeed (albeit full of truth) and I thought the picture depicts his work quite well. Thank you for your thoughtful comments and for visiting. 🙂

  3. the chair photo reminds me of the prison scenes that the soldiers in Iraq had uncovered during the war.
inhumane and horrid means of torture they gave to prisoners.
whatever the politics, it was a Godsend for the soldiers to have obliterated those torture chambers.
